DJ's Velvet

Val is with us. Her registered name is DJ's Velvet, a grullo mare foaled 22 February 2012, bred by David Shewmaker, certified 14 July 2014. The registry lists 14.2 hands and an inbreeding coefficient of 12.18%. The owner on that public record is still Jennifer Nichols. Our word and the registry transfer are two different dates. This page follows us for where she stands, and the registry for the breed. A foal is due in January.

The mare who already produced Firefox

Her sire, Spanish Sundown, is a silver dun. Her dam, Fairwinds Mocha Beauty, is black and by Broken Bone's Sam's Son, who is also Samson's sire. Val carries dun from the sire side and Sam blood from the dam side. Grullo is black or bay plus dun. Silver is not required to make that color, and her own record does not publish a silver test.

Firefox, silver dun, foaled 2 May 2016, is her son by Toby's Samson. David Shewmaker foaled him in Kentucky. He was not foaled here. Claudia Depew stands him. We mention him because he is an international champion and Samson's son. Val was not with us when Firefox was foaled. She is here now.
